Background
Dragon Ball is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama. Manga is an art form consisting of comics and print cartoons in a style developed in Japan in the late 19th century. A series of comics began was published between 1984 and 1995, then 42 volumes were later produced from the 519 individual chapters. These were the basis of three anime series produced by Toei Animation: Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT. Toei has also released three television specials and seventeen animated feature films based on this material.

Warning – Some Figures Not Made for Rough Play
There are some Dragonball Z action figures that are tough and made to survive rough treatment. These types are suitable for kids or people wanting to play games with the figures. Other figures are not put together with rough play in mind. These fragile figures are fine for collectors who want to keep their action characters on the shelf.
The best way to find out if a figure is fragile is to read some reviews. Customer ratings of products can be quite helpful to determine if a Dragonball Z action figure is made for rough play, or only suitable for collectors. Reviews are not available for all products, however.
My Personal Favorites
My personal favorite is the Dragonball Z BanDai Hybrid Action Mega Articulated 4 Inch Action Figure Perfect Cell. Its one flaw is that it easily comes apart so it’s not good for game play. But it is beautiful standing on a shelf. The long wings and high helmet make this a striking character.
My second favorite figure is the Dragonball Z BanDai Hybrid Action Mega Articulated 4 Inch Action Figure Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks. This one is really sturdy. It can be used in game play, even by your kids! The hair on this character is really wild-looking. It reminds me of a huge classical Indian headdress, but is all yellow.
